Show Notes

"Hello everyone! Welcome to episode 49 of The Root of the Science Podcasts. As you can probably tell this episode is going to be little different, we’re flipping the script a little bit. My name is Nathasia Muwanigwa; I am a Zimbabwean PhD student currently in Luxembourg and the cofounder of Visibility STEM Africa. I have the incredible privilege of guest hosting the season finale of the Root of the Science podcasts, and my amazing guest is none other than the inspiring founder and host of this podcast, Miss Anne with an E herself. In part one of the season 1 finale, we get to learn more about Miss Anne Chisa, a Malawian who’s spent 20 years living in South Africa. She details her journey into STEM, which was far from smooth sailing, and she tells us about the different challenges she faced from high school, undergrad and Master’s level and how she was able to overcome them through hard work, perseverance and the incredible support of her parents. She tells us about her latest endeavor - a PhD in the Agricultural Sciences at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, and gives us an insight into the fascinating transdisciplinary project she is involved in that seeks to restore local environments and ecosystems in rural areas through tree planting and sustainably repurposing waste. Tune in to hear all about this and so much more, I am so excited for you all to get inspired by this incredible gem of a young woman. Enjoy!" - Nathasia Muwanigwa
