Show Notes

Hello everyone! Welcome to episode 79

My guest today is Dr. Cosnet Lerato Rametse. Born and raised in South Africa. In this episode, we learn that she has always wanted to work in science, and more specifically, she has always been curious about how the body worked, pathology, and also wanting to learn and gain skills to contribute to the understanding of pathologies. This curiosity led her to study medicine. She also discusses why she chose to be a clinician-scientist. Currently, Lerato is a PhD candidate investigating the impact of asymptomatic sexually transmitted infections on HIV susceptibility in the penis through the division of Immunology UCT. She tells us about her fascinating research and why it is so vital. Lerato goes on to explain why she chose to specialize in Immunology and how she dealt with some social changes during her academic career.

Tune in as we hear about this and so much more
