Let me just paint a picture of how we got here . First things first . We started the Root of the Science podcast in 2020 . And this was done during the pandemic , where I had the wonderful opportunity of interviewing really amazing Africans in STEM . The purpose is , and was , to amplify Africans and STEM across the globe , and that mission was achieved and it has surpassed all of my expectations . Thank you to every single person who's been on the show , who has , you know , been there from the beginning , and those who have joined along the journey . It's been really amazing the wonderful stories that we've shared , the diversity that we've had to the opportunity to amplify and showcase to the world , and with that , we've been noticed by a number of local and international organizations who have awarded us some really amazing awards for the work that we've been doing and , honestly , it's an honor to be recognized for this work .

So when this happened and evolution happened where , in 2023 , I realized that people consume media in various different ways . As much as we have really penetrated the audio landscape , I realized that people would want to consume media in various different ways and , at the same time , there's still that problem where , as much as we're amplifying Africans and STEM , the sources for credible science information are rather limited . So what we decided to do was take those two problems and create Root of the Science Media , where it's a multimedia platform to showcase the credible science information and amplify the amazing Africans in STEM . We do this through the podcast . We have a newsletter that's out every Friday . We also are moving into visual and that's why you're seeing my face today Exactly Now .

I am a scientist as well as a science communicator and in the past four years of doing the science communication work , I realized that there is very limited opportunities available for many of us science communicators to actually communicate our science . So in the meantime , I thought this is such a wonderful platform where other African science communicators can use our platform and the audience that we've garnered to showcase the way that they communicate science . So not only are we amplifying African scientists and innovators , we are also amplifying African science communicators . So if you are an African science communicator , if you write , if you have a podcast , if you do really great visuals and you don't know where to put your information , we have a volunteer call currently and you can join this really wonderful team .

Speaking of this really wonderful team , I have the most amazing team , the most amazing support in the root of the science media , and that is why I'm here today . So great shout out to the people who work with me on my team , who help with the behind the scenes . This wouldn't have been possible without them . I am so expectant of what this platform will do and you know , in the landscape of science in Africa and across the globe , we are on the precipice of really doing amazing things and if you love what we love to do and you think you'd like to help us and support us , please do reach out with information that is at the bottom of the screen . Until then , this is Anne with an E . Until next time , goodbye .
